This week in Flax Bourton we have been spending time exploring out in the garden, where we practiced our balancing skills! Some of us can now walk along the beams independently, clapping when we get to the end with what we have achieved! We found a ladybird crawling along the fence, we very confidently and gently picked it up and ran over to show the adults where they asked "What have you found?” The adults told us it was a ladybird, and we noticed its red colour and black spots!
Some of us explored the home corner, trying on the new animal dressing up with some help from the adults! We were able to say the sounds and actions to the animal costumes we were wearing . We also made role play toast for our friends and our teddies we bring into nursery! We also sat and placed the wooden shapes onto the stacking rings with great coordination.
Our Core Book this term is "We're Going on a Bear Hunt", so we have been sitting and listening to the story throughout the week. In the art area we helped to paint a box which will turn into a big bear we can look and touch - we can't wait!
To start an awesome week in Kindergarten we started in the courtyard where we were investigating the bubbles. We began by mixing the water to see if any more bubbles appeared, and they did! So we then used a magnifying glass to see if we could find what was in the water to make the bubbles appear; nevertheless, we had just seen lots more bubbles! So we used the time to empty and fill our buckets using the funnels.
To welcome the Autumn season, we took part in some leaf painting. We had chosen some leaves from our garden adventures to help us create our painting. We would paint the leaves and give them a great big push to create a lovely print on the paper!
Together as a team, we worked very hard to use our water pump so we could see the water travel down through the tubes and create a big SPLASH! We also had a gloop tray, but this wasn’t any normal gloop tray; it was a magic gloop tray! As we would pick up a handful of the white powder, it would form a lump in our hands, but as we put it back down, it would return to the powder form. We had rolled through lots of different items, for example our colourful shapes and also our cars!
We then came together with the adults to create one of our tuff trays. We all helped choose the colour of our magical road; the colour we had chosen was egg yellow. We had carefully poured it into our rice and gave it a big stir, and it started to turn yellow! Once it had dried, we worked as a team to fill the tuff tray up. Once it had been set up, we drove around the busy mini city we had created together!
There have been smiles all round this week in Pre-School!
We've been taking part in lots of mark making, from crayons to pens to water paint! We've also had lots of fun things in our tuff tray to explore, such as stick art and playdough that we helped to make!
We’ve been out in the garden lots, and of course the balance bikes have been popular again. There’s been ice cream shops, cafes in the mud kitchen and concerts on the grass! The sandpit has been open again this week and we’ve been super busy in there. We’ve built towers and castles, we’ve dug holes and made a track for the “car train”. And of course burying our feet!
We have been extending our knowledge of emotions and feelings, so we said hello to our emotions monster friends! Back at the art station we have been cutting and sticking, and even made shields!
Well done Pre-School for another brilliant week. Have a lovely weekend!
