At Red Bus this week we hosted a craft morning so our parents could come in and help with some creative activities and play with us! We had Christmas-scented playdough in the tuff tray with some festive cookie cutters. Our Mummies and Daddies helped us to push the cutters into the dough and we pretended to make Christmas biscuits - Yummy!
At the mark-making table we could use the crayons to make different pictures before using glue and various craft materials to make cotton-wool snowman scenes. Jodie supported us to make some ice-cream cone Christmas trees. We drizzled green icing over the cone and then added yummy sprinkles to decorate!
Some of us moved into the main room with our parents and we enjoyed playing alongside them with some of our favourite toys. It was good fun to have them come to the nursery and watch us do
what we do best... be brilliant!
This week one of our lunches was Christmas dinner, we all put our festive outfits on and celebrated in style. Keeping the festive outfits coming some of us participated in Christmas Jumper Day. In the art studio we put some decorations into the water for a different sensory experience, we liked to watch them float across the top making ripples in the water as they moved.
We explored more festive play-doh in the tuff tray later in the week and used our fingers to sculpt some festive figurines. We used the cutters to help cut out some shapes and, with support from the adults, wiggled the cut dough out of the cutter as they were a bit tricky to remove, but we made sure to be careful so they didn't break.
In front of the tree we took turns to have a Christmas picture with some tinsel and decorations. We felt the thick texture of the tinsel and wrapped some of it around us so we looked just like
the tree. We are getting very excited for Christmas....only 18 sleeps to go!
This week in Kindergarten we have been getting into the Christmas spirit! We started the week by making a fireplace to embrace a tradition that is new to some of us - Sinterklaas! We made our very own fire by painting and sticking a couple of weeks ago and now it was time to put it together and leave our shoes out in front of it -in the hope that Sinterklaas would visit whilst we were asleep! We left our shoes by the fireplace and awoke to some beautiful glittering pine cones, how exciting!
We have also been busy with lots of festive craft activities this week. We all made ourselves a crown and placemat ready for our Christmas dinner here at Red Bus. We used glitter paint, glue and sequins to stick, paint and create our masterpieces! We carried them proudly to the dining room and ate our delicious Christmas dinner all together.
Another way we have been crafty this week is by making salt dough decorations! We scooped our ingredients into the bowl, counting as we went to make sure we had the right amount. We then used our strong arms to mix the ingredients until they formed a
dough. We squished and squeezed the dough, exploring the texture and rolling it out with a rolling pin. We then pressed the cookie cutter into the dough and revealed our star shapes! We can't wait to decorate them and hang them on our trees!
We have also been making cups of tea in our garden and exploring our very own Polar Express train, what a festive week!
This week in Pre-School we have loved taking part in a range of Christmas themed activities - it has been a very festive week indeed! We have had the best time engaging in many creative activities in our art studio including making our own hats to wear for our Christmas dinner, decorating biscuits, painting pinecones, making paper plate wreaths and many more exciting activities.
We have also had the opportunity to wear our favourite Christmas jumpers, showing them off to our friends. We also got to help decorate the Christmas trees and practice wrapping presents to put under our Pre-School tree!
It has been very funny to see the daily antics our preschool elf gets up to every morning as well!
