This week in Flax Bourton, the weather has been so lovely so we've spent lots of time playing outside, both in our own rooftop garden and in the big gardens too!
We enjoyed some water play, filling and emptying the different sized pots and pans and pouring the water down the tubes - splash!
We have also explored some different sensory trays of glittery water, frogs and lily pads and also a tray of coloured foam and bowls and ice cream cones. We spoke about the different colours of the foam and how to scoop, mix and touch the foam!
In Kindergarten this week we have mostly out exploring tin the big garden! We have all been really interested in the mud kitchen where we use the soil and real pots, pans and utensils to cook, bake and create. We act out experiences from our home lives such as cooking tea and putting food into the oven. When the food is ready we tell the adults to be careful and blow the food because it is hot!
Also in the garden we have enjoyed playing on all the different equipment such as crawling through the tunnel, riding the bikes and learning about different signs and symbols that keep us safe. With the bricks we have copied the builders who are making a cover for our decking by building our own structures!
Back inside and in the Cosy Cabin we have played some games where we are practicing recognising familiar images and using our developing language skills to say their names. Another interest has been with the large dinosaurs. We are learning their names and finding out that they have bones inside of them just like us!
This week in Pre-School! there has been lots of water play activities available for us to play with! Katie filled up both tuff trays up with water and we were allowed to take our shoes and socks off. We did lots of splashing with our feet! We have also been doing lots of pouring and filling with different contains and filling the contains up with water.
This week we headed over to the interactive whiteboard to watch some of highlights from Wimbledon. We then headed outside to practice our tennis skills!
We had new friend in Pre-School this week called Karen! We have been able to practice our brushes skills and different kind of hairstyles on her.
We have shown lots of interests in dinosaurs and pirates this week. We have been looking at the dinosaur books in the small would area independently. We have also been making sure the dinosaurs have been feed in the garden! We have been dressing up as pirates and been creative turning boxes into pirate ships - ahoy!
From next week, our Red Bus blog posts are moving from weekly to monthly. This means the next update for Flax Bourton will be w/c 21st July 2025.
