This week in Flax Bourton we celebrated World Bee Day with exciting bee made from rice! Whilst playing the adults talked about how bees "buzz" and make yummy honey by collecting pollen from flowers.
In the art room we got to make a bee from black and yellow play dough! We squeezed and squashed the dough together making patterns to create a bee. The adults help us learn about bees by looking at pictures!
In the book nook we have an exciting new sofa chair and cushion, so we been sitting beautifully together to read stories. We've also been playing with the sensory mirror - we thought it was such fun when the adults showed how the mirror would spin around in a circle!
We have also been spending lots time in the lower garden running around playing on the bikes and practicing our balancing skills on the climbing bridge and wooden hexagons!
In Kindergarten this week we have used lots of our loose parts resources to support and enhance our play. Some of the loose parts we have used this week have been the drainpipes, guttering and tarpaulin. We have pretended these are bridges or planks on a pirate ship and the tarpaulin was a big tent or a dark tunnel. We like the freedom to be able to move the parts around the garden as our play ideas change!
Inside we have all been really interested in exploring our small world area. We are very confident to name the different animals that we have and talk about the environments that they live in. To help with our understanding we use the interactive screen or some information books to find out more facts and answer some questions we might have.
Some of the other resources we explored have been the sensory rolling pins and play food. We like to roll the rolling pins to each other or give them a shake to hear the different sounds they make, we are learning about how to shake them harder for a louder sound and more gently for a quieter sound! With the play food we talk about the different types of food we have such as fruit, vegetables, dairy and meat.
This week in Pre-School has been super fun!
It was World Bee Day this week, and we had the fantastic opportunity to see a bee keeper! He showed us different types of bees, bees wax and even honeycomb. We then got to try some honey which was delicious! We have been learning lots about word techniques, such as rhyming words and finding them in a sentence! Puzzles have of course been popular again and this week we have completed a vehicle puzzle.
Out in the sandpit we have been finding treasure and our water tray has been in very good use. Washing the windows and painting the fences with bubbly water has been super fun. In the garden more building has occurred with the loose parts area. Shops and cafes were made, even dragons and monsters were made! To top the week off we learned all about ladybirds and had lovely stories to listen to. Well done Pre-School, have a lovely bank holiday weekend!
