This week in Flax Bourton we been getting messy, with a variety of painting with different colours and brushes! We used our hands to feel the texture of the paint. The adults showed how to hold and use the paint brushes, we were able to copy and made some beautiful pictures!
In the big garden we been working on our sharing skills when playing on the wheelbarrow and with the water. We took it in turns to collect water in the containers and pour it down the guttering, watching as it dropped into the bucket at the bottom - splash! We have also been sat in the sun reading books, turning each page and pointing at the pictures.
Back in the nursery room we been spending time in the construction area, building towers - see how high we can go! As well as pushing and pulling the wooden cars along the floor saying "beep beep"!
To finish the week we been splashing in water on the rooftop garden making the big splash while seeing what animals we could find!
As the weather has been so nice this week, in Kindergarten we have continued to explore in the garden. We are really interested in exploring with water and have made the most of our water wall on the decking and the water in the main garden area. With some of our new resources, we have been developing our maths and fine motor skills by using the jugs, funnels and cups to scoop, poor and transport the water around the tray!
As the weather has also been so hot, it has caused lots of new animals to come out and explore. On our decking fence this week we discovered a tiny and very hungry caterpillar who was looking for some food! We didn't want him to get hurt so rescued him with a nice juicy leaf and brought him inside. We are feeding him and helping him grow into a bit fat caterpillar like the one from one of our favourite stories.
We have also learnt this week about how to use mark making tools to write and draw images and copy letters in our names. Holli supported some of us to practice holding and using scissors when cutting paper and card. We had to listen to Holli's instructions on scissor safety as they are sharp. We have also learnt through risk taking, trial and error and exploring through playing and engaging with our friends!
This week in Pre-School the sun has been shining and we've had a lovely time!
Inside we have been learning why we need to put on our suncream, and it's to protect our skin from burning! We have also been learning about how to keep the plants healthy, so we have made sure to water them once if not twice a day. Our tuff trays have been super fun this week, from lots of water to gloopy slimy mess!
Out in the garden we have enjoyed building amazing shelters from the sunshine, by using our brilliant loose parts. Many many ice cream and cold drink shops have been opened this week in the garden. We have been learning about buying things with money, so these shops have been brilliant practice and helped us explore the role of customer and seller! To top the week off we spent time in the sandpit and did some yoga. Well done Pre-School for a lovely week!
