This week in Flax Bourton, we spent lots of time outside in the beautiful sunshine! To celebrate National Picnic Day, we took a trip into the garden to eat our lunch. We sat on our blankets and had yummy sandwiches and juicy melon. We also sang songs and listened to our core book A Hippo Has a Hat – just like in the story, we had our very own little party!
We had so much fun with water play too – both inside and out in the big garden. We splashed, poured, measured, and even dipped our feet in the water tray for a little paddle. It was so much fun and helped us stay cool!
At the end of the week, we played on the decking, solving puzzles, learning about different colours, and reading lots of stories. We loved pointing to the colours as the adults said them!
What a lovely week we’ve had!
This week in Kindergarten it’s been hot, hot, hot!
We started the week by exploring some of our inside activities. In the home corner, we sat with our friends to read books. The adults read us our favourites, and we loved talking about the pictures and what was happening in the stories.
We also had lots of fun in the kitchen area, using our imaginations to ‘cook’ delicious meals and make cups of tea for our friends and teddies!
One of our favourite things this week has been dancing! We especially loved listening to our Disney CD and dancing along to all the songs. We played musical statues too – we had to freeze when the music stopped! It was a bit tricky, but we tried really hard and had so much fun.
On Wednesday, we celebrated National Picnic Day! We walked to the field nearby and found a nice shady spot for our picnic. We had yummy sandwiches and veggies, and we explored the plants and flowers growing around us.
As the weather got even hotter, we went on a safari adventure in our tuff tray! We used our binoculars to spot animals hiding in the sand dunes – we saw giraffes, lions, and zebras!
Before it got too warm, we spent time in the garden, cooling off under the trees. Some of us helped the adults water the plants using recycled water from the water butt. We filled our watering cans and gave the plants a nice cool drink!
This week in Pre-School has been brilliant!
When it got really hot outside, we stayed cool indoors by reading stories, painting, and finishing lots of puzzles. We also played hairdressers, doctors, and one of our favourites – shops!
Out on the decking, we had a great time washing cars, babies, and animals with lots of bubbly water. We also worked really hard on creating beautiful artwork to take home for our families.
In the garden, we loved the sunshine and warmth. We built more dens to keep cool in the shade – and then turned them into ice cream shops! There was so much water play this week, and even bubbles too! We used funnels, pipes, and guttering to make slides for the water and watched it all fill up a giant tub.
To finish off our sunny week, we walked to the field with Kindergarten to celebrate National Picnic Day. We sat in the shade, ate yummy sandwiches, and then came back for some dancing!
Well done Pre-School for a fantastic sunny week – have a lovely weekend!
