Nursery

This week in Nursery we have been very busy celebrating Halloween, doing lots of spooky activities! With cotton wool and our imaginations, we created our own ghosts by gluing them onto paper.

Then using our hands we explored the texture of the pumpkins and bats made from colourful rice. We had lots of fun playing together, and making the rice "rain".

The excitement continued as we took an adventure around the nursery to go trick-or-treating, visiting Kindergarten and Preschool. We knocked on their door and patiently waited for an adult to open it and give us some treats, after seeing our amazing costumes!

As this week is also bonfire night, we have been preparing by painting cardboard tubes, stamping them onto paper, creating our very own fireworks, and making them sparkle by using lots of glitter, adding a touch of magic to our week.

Kindergarten

This week in Kindergarten we have had a blast celebrating Halloween! We all got into the spirit by dressing up, not only us - even the adults joined in on the fun!

Indoors, we engaged in a captivating Halloween sensory activity, which involved a giant pumpkin with a carved face. This hands-on experience allowed us to explore the world of pumpkins, learning about how they grow and more. We then had the opportunity to explore and express our feelings for the inside of the pumpkin, feeling the slimy texture and the hardness of the seeds. This helped us build our communication and language skills, as well as expand our knowledge of the natural world.

Then we went around the nursery tick-or-treating, knocking on the doors and proudly showcasing our costumes.

Our Halloween festivities extended to mealtimes, where we enjoyed a spooky lunch and tea. Our favourite was definitely the spooky jelly!

Pre-School

This week in Pre-School, we embarked on an exciting trip to Staple Hill, where we visited a fruit and vegetable shop. We were amazed at the range of fruits and vegetables, discovering their various shapes, sizes, and vibrant colours. To make our trip even more special, we had the opportunity to select and purchase pumpkins to share with our friends!

In the room, to celebrate we had lots of Halloween-theme activities to choose from. Inside we had lots of fun dressing up in spooky costumes, we crafted our own ghosts and pumpkins to decorate the room, and we also got very messy exploring the spooky spaghetti and scary skeleton soup!! Outside we mixed together vinegar, bicarbonate, and food colouring, to make some very bubbly, colourful witch's potions!

We then got very creative, making some Halloween biscuits, rolling out the dough, and cutting it into eerie shapes ourselves. Finally, we indulged in our delicious creations at teatime!
