This Week at Downend

Nursery

This week in Nursery the children have had so much fun! They have taken part in loads of different activities such as more potion making - we extended it from last week, where we used the pipettes to transport into the colourful potion water. We used all our different senses to explore this activity - our favourite was the minty scent!

We love our new 'Dear Zoo' book. We sat down with our friends and adults, or independently looked at the book. We enjoyed opening each door to see what's behind them and following the story! The children liked pressing the buttons on the side and listening to the sounds the animals makes, we then acted out the sounds too such as the lion - Raaaar!

In the Art Room we have been creating marks with the paint brushes and painting the mirrors! Whilst doing this we saw our reflection in the mirrors, and we even helped out our peers.

Lastly this week we have been sticking and using loads of different arts things such as sequins, tissue paper, pom-poms and pipe cleaners! We carefully used the PVA glue and spread it across our paper.

Kindergarten

This week in Kindergarten the children have had so much fun! They have taken part in loads of different activities, such as our new dinosaur darts game where they shared lots of giggles and had great aim!

Since we love messy play, we have had lots of
painting activities on offer such as the children painting the fire engines and making beautiful pictures to take home for their families.

They also had a great time splashing the dinosaur in the green swampy water! In addition, we have also been saying goodbye to our friends moving up to Pre-School - we will miss you all, but we are excited to see you start your new journey, see you around!

Pre-School

This week in Pre-School we have had lots of fun with our new parachute! We have played lots of teamwork building games - our favourite was to try to keep a ball or beanbag on the parachute for as long as possible without falling off!

Outside in the garden there was more collaborative play as we created a bus! We used our amazing imaginations, talking about where the bus would take us - we decided to take a day trip to the beach!

Back inside we got stuck into a pond themed activity tray, we looked closely at what we could see and talked about it with our adults. We discussed what types of animals you might find in a pond!

We've also been exploring playdough, experimenting with using different tools and resources to make marks and patterns on the surface!
