This Week at Downend

Nursery

This week in Nursery, we really liked using butterfly-shaped sponges to do printing with paint! It was so much fun mixing colours and making handprints on the paper.

We loved being outside – especially playing with the cars and the truck garage! Some of us also enjoyed sitting with friends and looking at different books in the sunshine.

In the garden, we’ve been looking after our plants by giving them a good drink of water. We’re great gardeners!

One of our favourite things this week was crawling through the tunnel – we had such BIG smiles as we wriggled through!

Kindergarten

This week in Kindergarten, we’ve had a fantastic week playing in the sunshine! We made special Father’s Day crafts – that was so much fun! We had a construction theme tray, which had all kinds of building materials, that we used to build towers and buildings, as well as a fishing tray filled with ocean shaving foam and fishing rods.

When the sun was shining bright, we cooled off by splashing and playing in the water outside.

We’ve been practicing our numbers using our number cushions and we’re getting really good at counting and recognising numbers.

In the garden, we used flowers and leaves to make different marks on paper with paint!

Later in the week, we tried ice painting. We used frozen coloured water to make cool, colourful marks – it was amazing!

What a fantastic week we’ve had!

Pre-School

This week in Pre-School, we celebrated Father’s Day! We did lots of fun activities using woodwork and treasure materials.

We used Polydron to build an amazing rocket. It looked so cool… but when we tried to sit on it - It collapsed!

It was also National Vegetable Day! We picked some of the vegetables we’ve been growing in our garden and talked about what they are and how they grow. Then we took them inside and drew pictures of them.

Later in the week, we had a creative tray to make our own pretend cupcakes and ice creams using lots of different craft materials. We sprinkled, stuck, and decorated – they looked good enough to eat!
