Nursery
To start off this week, we have explored a sensory beach themed tuff tray! We explored the texture of the edible sand which was made from blended rice krispies. We also had a very gloopy sea filled with different sea animals. We discussed going on holiday and visiting the beach. We took turns with building sandcastles and splashing in the sea. Some of us explored the book which was filled with different sea creatures such as sharks, octopus’ and fish!
Out in the garden we have been experimenting with our brand new bubble machine. We watched as the bubbles came out and we then had to try our best to quickly chase them and pop them. We worked as a team with this and trying our best to pop every last bubble. We all spent lots of time exploring this and popping all the bubbles!
We have also been exploring this term's Core Book “Little Monkey Calms Down”. We spoke about our feelings and how it is ok to feel happy, sad or even angry! We had cuddles with our little monkey and rested underneath the blanket. We also counted our monkeys and even sang “the little monkey’s” as we explored.
Kindergarten
This week in Kindergarten we enjoyed building our own ice creams! This was a great opportunity for discussion, as we shared our favourite flavours and even demonstrated some mathematical skills by counting up the scoops.
We've been showing our creative skills making Father's Day cards, choosing independently whether to use stamps, paint brushes - or even our hands! As we decorated the card we spoke about all the loved ones in our lives, and what makes them so special.
We've started exploring this term's Core Book series - 'The Lion Inside'! We used the puppets, putting them on our hands to reenact the story.
Pre-School
This week Pre-School we visited the sunny top garden to check on our pea plants! They have grown so much in the last few weeks. We also have a pumpkin plant, which has flowers that are starting to bloom. We looked at a book on growing plants, and talked about what happens to plants when they don't get the things they need to live. We then made sure to water the peas and flowers with our watering cans!
As this month is pride month, we have been talking about our own families. We discussed how every person and every family is different and how we celebrate diversity. We then made some flags with colourful streamers! We put glue on the straw and used our fine motor skills to wrap different colours around it, making a bright and beautiful flag.
This weekend is Father's Day, so we have been talking lots about our dads and other paternal carers in our lives. We shared what makes them so special, and ideas on how we could make them smile! We then made our own cards for them, decorating them with lots of love and some of even tried writing our names inside by ourselves.
