Nursery
This week we have been very busy! We have been working on our very own Red Bus farm! Our adults set up a very big sensory tray and filled it with crushed cereal. Our adults then encouraged us to find some trucks and cars that we could add onto our farm. We looked at the different animals such as a horse, pig, cow and many more.
Our adults tried their best to make the sounds to the animals and even encouraged the children to try too!
In the extension we have been exploring a multi coloured rice tray. We also explored our mathematic learning here by using our hands, scoops and spoons to fill the different sized metal bowls. It was interesting to see how much rice filled each of the bowls. We enjoyed doing this and then emptying them back out again.
In the art studio we got stuck into a painting activity. Our adult helped us with putting on our aprons and we starting working our very own masterpieces. We used the different colours and the stamps to create lots of marks across our paper. We were able to choose which stamp we wanted to use and we also picked our very own colours too. We then took our paintings to the art rack to dry ready to take home at the end of the day!
Kindergarten
This week in Kindergarten the children have loved making music! They explored different instruments to discover what sounds each one made. We spoke about whether it was a loud sound, or a quiet one, and how the sound changed depending on the force we used. We found out we could make loud noises by shaking the maracas really quickly!
Our Core Book this term is Goldilocks and the Three Bears, so we have been exploring the story in lots of different ways. This week we made our own porridge, choosing our own 'toppings' from a variety of craft resources. The children spoke about what they like to have for breakfast with their families!
Lastly the children used their senses to explore a dinosaur themed tuff tray. They used their hands to get mucky in the 'mud' - also giving it a little smell to discover it was actually cocoa powder! The children added more water to the powder, noticing how this changed the consistency.
Pre-School
This week a group of children went outside to work on map reading and orienteering, we placed a large grid on the floor that corresponded to the map in our hand. We created our own map colouring in various squares and using arrows to show the direction we needed to go in. We then handed our maps to our peers to see whether they could follow our directions!
Down in the dining room we have been making smoothies, we spoke about how healthy smoothies can be and what can go into them, so many different combinations. We then sat and cut the fruit using a child friendly knife and chopping board, working on our fine motor skills. All the fruit was then added to a blender and we got to have a taste of our creation!
To celebrate VE Day we have various activities going on from dancing to swing music, making bunting and even having our own little tea parties. One group went down to the dining room to do just that. They decorated their own table clothes and even cut up their own fruit. We all did so well at making our own sandwiches also!
