Nursery

This week in Nursery we delved into a spooky sensory tray! We explored the way the rice felt as it ran between our fingers. The rice was tricky to hold, so we used different utensils to help us scoop it all up. Using the utensils to lift and scoop the rice helps us develop our fine motor skills!

We also went on the trip to the park with the older children from Pre-School this week. We used all our power, muscles, balance and coordination to help us climb up the equipment. But our favourite part of the trip was snack - yum yum!

We also got stuck into lot of pink-tinged activities as we celebrated 'Wear Pink Day'! We particularly liked the cloud dough, and experimented with using different resources and rolling pins on it to see what marks we could make.

Kindergarten

This week in Kindergarten we have been busy creating our own Autumn artwork! We worked as a team to make marks on the paper. There were lots of different tools to pick from and natural resources such as conkers and leaves - but we chose to use our hands, which was a great sensory experience! We told the adults that the paint felt really cold - brrrr!

Outside in the garden, we have been busy practicing our balancing skills.  Some of us were bold and brave, trying to balance on one leg on the balancing beam.  We also had a go at hula hooping - this was a bit tricky, as we had to move our bodies in a certain way to keep the hoop spinning! We didn't give up and tried a different tactic if the first way didn't work. We also discovered rolling the hoops back and forth to our peers was much easier!

Pre-School

In Pre-School this week we took a visit to the Sea Mills Library! We made sure to hold hands as we walked along the street, and spotted lots of things to talk about. We saw flowers, cars, buses, and even some local cats! We also talked lots about road safety, looking out for cars and crossing the roads carefully. Once we arrived at the library we picked out books independently, and sat with our adults to read our favourites!

Back at Red Bus, we explored painting on a new canvas - coffee filters! It was exciting to discover what would happen to the paint, and we watched as the colours dripped onto the filter paper and moved and blended.

We also really enjoyed our 'Sticky Kids' CD! This gives us lots of guides and instructions on how to dance and move our bodies. We listened really well and followed the steps brilliantly!
