This Week at Coombe Dingle

Nursery

This week we have been very busy learning about road safety in the rooftop garden. We explored zebra crossings and instructions - we learned that red means stop, and green means go!

We have also got stuck into a rice tray filled with different coloured rice. We used the different shells to scoop the rice and pour it into bowls and cups!

Kindergarten

This week the children enjoyed making a fruit salad. They enjoyed sharing what their favourite fruits are and learning to prepare them safely.

The children enjoyed reading one of the core books “the squirrels who squabbled”. The children learnt about the importance of sharing and did some good turn taking having cuddles from the characters of the book.

They have also enjoyed being out in the garden. They worked together to build a balance beams and enjoyed walking along it and helping the dolls to do it too!

Pre-School

This week in Pre-School we played a dice throwing game! The children were excited to be in the front garden to play this game, taking it in turns to throw the dice and then count the dots. When it landed on 6 the child who’s turn it was decided to run around the garden six times while their peers counted up to six!

We have been discussing as a group what things we would find under the sea. We talked about different sea creatures, their distinctive features and what parts of the ocean you may find them. During time together there were various materials such as bubble wrap, cellophane, eyes, sequins and more for the children to create their own sea creatures!

We decided to do some tie dying using some white material. We placed corks inside the material and wrapped elastic bands around them to keep the cork in place. We put on gloves and dipped the material in different colours and squeezed the material. We carefully opened up the material and hung it outside to dry. Each one has the children’s name written on them so that they can take home their own unique creations home!
