This Week at Coombe Dingle

Nursery

This week in Nursery, we’ve had some new heuristic toys arrive. These toys were a great way to practice our fine motor skills as we had to try and get the wooden egg into the cups. It took some practice and good concentration skills!

We’ve also had some new mirrors placed around the room with a mirror tunnel to explore. We loved looking at our reflections and spotting our peers and adults in the reflection too!

In our art studio, we’ve used bobbins as stamps to paint. We used bright colours to make the prints pop!

Kindergarten

This week in Kindergarten, we have been using the mirrors to look at our reflections, we talked about recognising facial features and emotions. We made the faces of different emotions we may feel.

We made some playdough and had some feathers and twigs to decorate the playdough with and explored the different textures, such as the feathers feeling soft and the twigs felt rough!

Our tuff tray was full of fossils and dinosaurs! We used flour to cover them up and then had to excavate them using the paint brushes and diggers from the ‘rubble’!

Pre-School

This week Pre-School made portraits! We were all given a circle with a face drawn on it and a mirror to look at our reflections. We started off by looking at the colour of our eyes and then chose the right shade to colour the eyes in with. We then looked at the colour of our hair and used some playdough to create our hair!

We’ve been talking about how we take care of our teeth this week. We learned that children have 20 teeth and adults have 32 teeth! We also looked at different dentist tools and what they are for, as well as why we brush our teeth twice a day. We had lots of fun using the tools on the model mouth, taking the teeth out, brushing them and looking at our own teeth in the mirror. Chloe explained what each of the tools were for and why the dentist uses them.

Last week, we made hot air balloons out of papier mache, which meant this week we got to decorate them! We teamed together to help decorate then. We used paint to make them colourful before sticking feathers, crepe paper and glittered card on. Next up we attached our baskets that we made and possibly add some people before we can hang them up to show!
