This Week at Coombe Dingle

Nursery

This week in Nursery, what else could we be doing but some Christmas arts and crafts! We used Christmas stickers, pom-poms, glitter, and sequins to create our masterpiece. We drizzled the glue on the paper and explored all the materials we could stick on, we placed them on our paper and kept holding things up to show our adults.

We also enjoyed playing with a Pom Pom sorting tuff tray with our peers where we had lots of fun posting the pom-poms through the cardboard tubes. We also liked seeing what ways we could stack the tubes before they fell down!

We've also spent time exploring our new sensory tiles! We used our hands and feet to explore the new sensations and watched as the colours mixed and moved as we interacted with them. It also gave us the opportunity to learn lots of new vocabulary, as our adults talked to us about the different colours and textures we were experiencing!

Kindergarten

This week in Kindergarten we let it snow, let it snow, let it snow! We got stuck into a small-world Wintery scene, using the small spatulas to make marks and mix the snow. We were sprinkling the snow on the train track, whilst saying “It’s snowing, it’s snowing!”

We also enjoyed making some reindeer food this week! We used the cup to scoop it up and put it in the elf bag. We spoke about feeding the reindeer on Christmas Eve and when Santa is coming. We used our hands to feel the texture of the food, and we helped each other fill the bags! We noticed how the bags became heavier the more we added to them.

At the Cooking Station this week we made our own melted snowman biscuits as every special treat! We spread the icing all over the biscuit, added a marshmallow on top, and then decorated it with icing pens. We were so excited to take these home to share with our loved ones!

Pre-School

In Pre-School we have had lots of fun making paper chains using different coloured paper! First Zoe showed us how to make it before we had a go independently. We tried hard to remember each of the steps involved, and folding and sticking the paper challenged our fine motor skills and coordination! We were so proud once we had made a chain, and talked about the best place to hang up our decorations.

We also had such fun at the park this week! We did some great climbing, and we were really brave and had a go on the rope swing. We then sat and had a snack before walking back to Pre-School singing Christmas songs - what a lovely trip out!

We had a lovely conversation about what our favourite thing is about Christmas, we each had the opportunity to say what we enjoyed about Christmas, and we then had a look at what Elvis had been up to! He had been taking ‘Elfies’ so we decided we wanted to do the same! We finished off by singing some Christmas carols too.
