This month in nursery we have been celebrating lots of different events! We have celebrated bonfire night, Remembrance Day, Children in Need and lots more.
We started the month by making fireworks in lots of different ways while using different resources, such as cardboard inner tubes and our fingers to make explosive fireworks!
We have been doing a lot of crafts, using feathers and flour to feel and experience different senses. Also we commemorated Remembrance Day, making poppies using red and black pieces of paper. We enjoyed sticking the bits of paper to the poppy and making them for our families. The nursery room also enjoyed playing with red and black rice in the shape of a poppy using the rice to scoop and pour into bowls while using our fine motor skills.
To raise awareness for Children in Need we had a pyjama day, we enjoyed playing with our cornflake Pudsey bear and we even painted our own bears!
We have also been busy playing outside in the garden and practicing our balancing. Our favourite thing to do in the garden is to get creative in the mud kitchen, mixing our potions together and making lots and lots of cakes for our friends and practitioners.

This month in Kindergarten we have explored lots of learning opportunities in our outdoor areas. In the garden we have been learning to be independent on our large climbing equipment. We started by needing the support of an adult or our peers but with continued determination we are then able to navigate the equipment like the balance beams, rope bridge or pedal bikes by ourselves.
This learning continued on the decking as we have been practicing to be independent in using scissors, identify shapes and colours and completing puzzles.
Back inside we been interested in learning about animals and where they might live. The adults have helped us with our understanding by leading group activities where we can discuss the animals we know and match them to their correct habitat.
We have also continued to work on recognising our shapes and colours. We explore these in lots of areas of the room and are learning that a square shape is the same as the square window and the round circle is the same as the round clock.
We then count how many sides each shape has. This number knowledge then moves forward in our play as we independently count the Humber of rings in a tower we have made or how many friends are in our group times.
In the home corner we explore the area with our growing imagination as we dress and look after the babies or give our loved ones a call on the telephone. We like to act out scenarios and play ideas from things we have experienced outside of Kindergarten like going on the bus or visiting the dentist.

This term began with Halloween fun - we scooped out Pumpkins and visited a local farm, where we bought pumpkins from the Farm Shop. We also enjoyed a spooky Halloween yoga session!
We then created a group painting for Bonfire Night, we all worked together to re create the awesome colours and patterns fireworks make in the sky. It was exciting to see fireworks appear on our black paper!
We talked about Remembrance Day and learned that poppies grew on the battlefields in France - where soldiers fought for us in the First and Second World Wars and we remember them by wearing a Poppy. We then designed Poppy pictures to commemorate Remembrance Day, everyone created their own collage or drawing and we created a lovely wreath with the pictures. We observed the two minute silence for people who lost their lives fighting for peace and freedom.
Recently we supported Children in Need by wearing our pyjamas and making Pudsey Bear pictures. We also stuck stickers on Pudsey masks that we wear throughout the day. We had lots of fun at our interactive board dancing and doing exercises with Pete Wicks for Children in Need!
