Nursery
This month in Nursery we have spent lots of time playing both inside and outside in the rooftop garden and the big garden due to the nice weather! In the big garden we enjoyed the water play, we splashed and practiced our pouring and measuring.
We have also done lots of ladybug spotting! They have been flying onto to our hands and we have watched them crawl up our arms. We talked with the adults about the different colours on the ladybugs and the number of spots.
We have also spent lots of time practicing our musical instruments skills. We even created our own band, banging on the drums and playing the keyboard. Outside on the rooftop garden we have been drawing on big paper, practicing our mark making skills. We have also been shooting balls in the basket ball hoop!
To end the month we have had lots of messy play to get stuck into. We had a foam party, and clapped foam together to see how high it could go. We also used our tunnel and climbed through and race our friends!
Kindergarten
This month in Kindergarten we have explored lots of different types of media in our tuff trays. We have used flour as snow for our polar bears to explore in, sand for our crabs and seashells, and blue gloop as the sea for the sharks and fish. When the weather warmed up we moved the trays into the garden and filled them with water, we then used some resources from the garden to add to the water and used them to make bubbles!
Whilst we were also out exploring in the sunshine we have been developing our imagination skills with the wooden hexagons. We pretended they were mountains that we had to climb up and over and then we turned them upside down and they became boats. We sat in one each and sailed our boats all around the garden, as we played we sang one of our favourite songs, 'Row row row your boat'.
Now we have our new cover on our decking we can play out there whatever the weather! We have all been interested in the water wall and it has been lovely to have the water out to cool off as it has been so hot.
Another interest we have had this month is drawing and mark making. We have explored with the crayons and stencils on the decking and have been learning to colour inside the stencil design to make pictures. Back inside we have helped the adults to make playdough on a regular basis. We help to add all the ingredients to a bowl and talk about how it changes colour, shape and texture as we mix all the ingredients up. We then use the cutters to make different playdough creations and proudly show the adults what we have made.
This month we have also been learning and talking about how to be kind to each other as we take part in World Friendship Day. We have demonstrated some lovely friendly behaviour with our peers by sharing what we are playing with, taking turns with toys and helping each other each out. We use kind words with each other and share a smile to make each other happy.
Pre-School
In Pre-School this month we have been enjoying the lovely weather we have had. We headed to Ashton Court by bus - we were on a mission to find a Gromit! We did loads of walking up to the big house, where Feathers McGraw was standing. We then had snack before we went on a walk around before heading back to nursery on a bus.
We have been exploring the outdoor space looking for ladybugs. We have been using different types of magnifying glasses to look high and low for them because they are everywhere. We have also been looking for them inside!
We have been talking about Bristol Harbour Festival. We have been getting creative by making own boats with different art resources. We then had a boat race in the water tray!
Our toy bugs and insects thought it was a good idea to cool off in the freezer as it has been really hot this month, but they got stuck in the ice - oh no! We have been using different types of hammers to break the ice the free them
We have been enjoying the garden this month. In the cabin, we have been working together to create a tower using the foam blocks but the tower kept falling down. The dinosaurs have escaped the Cabin, so we used the wheelbarrow to collect the, up. Also outside in the garden, we have been making sure the babies are nice and clean!
We have been really creative working on a story together. Katie placed a really long piece of paper out on the floor, we sat along one side of the paper and drew a picture that had a monster in the story.
We have been looking at the alphabet this month. We have been using their fine motor skills to go fishing, they had to match up the right alphabet with the right letter in the mat!
