This Month at Coombe Dingle
December

Nursery

We have been very busy in the baby room this month! We have been starting to explore our Core Book for this term - The Very Hungry Caterpillar! Instead of sitting and listening to the story book alone, we decide that we were going to create our very own butterflies. We made these using glue, feathers, pipe cleaners, paint and many different mixed media resources as our adult read us the story!

It is beginning to look like Christmas in the Nursery room! We have been decorating our very own Christmas trees! We have used paint dabblers and gluing and sticking resources to add to our tree.

Stomp, Stomp, Stomp! We have used different words to communicate how we can make our animals walk or move. We dipped our animals into the paint and added them to our paper! It was interesting to see all of the different footprints that each animal creates.

Kindergarten

This month Kindergarten have enjoyed getting into the Christmas spirit! We spent lots of time down in the dining room making decorations and lots of other items ready to send home for our families using lots and lots of glitter!

As well as making lots of different types of craft we have enjoyed being outside in the garden, although not for a long time as it started to very very cold, brrr! We've been on such a big adventure starting from the front garden all the way to the top! Drawing lots of pictures, playing with the mud and riding on the bikes.

Continuing the Christmas spirit, we have enjoyed starting our letters to Santa. Some children used big pens and wrote what they would like and others looked through a toy catalogue and did some glueing and sticking.

Pre-School

What a busy month in Pre-School! We have been taking part in lots of lovely Christmas crafts, the adults demonstrated what the activity involved and showed us how to compete your craft, we then set to work creating your own. We listened really well and were pleased with the outcome!

We have listened to the story "Stickman" - our new Core Book of the term. We talked about what we thought was going to happen next and how stick man was feeling. We had a cuddly stick man that we took it in turns with posing him in different ways as different things just like in the story ! Then we used clay to create our very own stick.

During Time Together, we made our own little Christmas tree ornaments. We were given a triangle made from lollipop sticks, and we carefully painted it green. After the paint dried, we decorated your tree by sticking colourful sequins all over it, making it sparkle beautifully!

We have also talked about the special festivals of December. The adults asked us if anyone already had their Christmas out or has anyone seen the Christmas decorations in the shops and in the streets. Some of us said we hadn't had the Christmas tree out yet! Then we talked about what's going to happen in Christmas, we are so excited about Santa is coming to our houses!
