Nursery

This month in Nursery we have been exploring different ways to create marks and pictures! We used the art easel with paint stamps, chunky paint markers - even raw spaghetti! We created butterflies too, by painting one side of our paper to create a matching mark on the other side. Wow!

We have been developing our understanding of the world with a recycling activity. We explored the different textures of the paper, plastic, and cardboard. We took turns to place them into the mixed recycling bin - making sure to wash our hands afterwards!

We also got the chance to make sensory bottles, themed around the book "We're Going on a Bear Hunt"! We added our snow, river, mud and grass carefully to the bottles.

We have also spent lots of summer days out in the garden! We explored the tunnel, and how we can crawl through it to the other side. Peekaboo! We also explored the climbing frame.

We got stuck into some dinosaur themed activities this month, with different cereals and a large selection of toys. We stomped and crunched our way through, enjoying the sound and feel as we went!

Kindergarten

This month has been as busy month for us here in Kindergarten! We have learnt about the importance of brushing out teeth, we read a story and then had a go at brushing some model teeth.

We had lots of fun playing some parachute games. They enjoyed lifting the parachute up and down and running underneath.

We also read the Colour Monster book! We talked about different feelings, the children feel and then they made pictures of different colours to show how they are feeling.

The children enjoyed recreating the “We’re Going on a Bear Hunt” story in the tuff tray, they had lots of fun playing in the scenes.

Pre-School

This month we took part in some water races! We were given a jug that was filled up with water, we were going to race to the finish line and we need to make sure the water doesn't split at the same time, the first one who pours water in the tray win the race! We held the jugs tightly and slowed down when the water almost spilled. We had so much fun in this activity and showed really good listening and good waiting!

We also made our very own treasure maps! First, we drew mysterious islands on plain white paper and marked the secret treasure spot with a big X. To make the map look old and weathered, just like a real pirates, we dyed it with tea bags and carefully crumpled it to add wrinkles and texture. It was so much fun imagining the adventures that could happen on our island. I wonder... who will be the one to find the treasure?

To continue our fun pirate theme, we made our very own pirate patches! We began by decorating the patch with lots of creativity. After we finished decorating, we carefully cut it out all by ourselves. Once it was ready, the adults helped us tie the string so we could wear it just like a real pirate. We looked fantastic in our rainbow pirate patches and had so much fun being part of the pirate crew!

We also got to practice our cutting skills. Anouska made it really tricky by using curved and straight lines for us to follow - we then used the bits to make a bee!

We did marble painting to express our feelings after we had talked about the book The Colour Monster! We had been told that the colours on the colour monster represented it feelings. We raised our hands up high when Leona asked 'who feels happy today'? After the story, we moved on to do our painting. We put different colour marbles on the paper and turned the plate gently to make the marbles roll. We had a mixed feelings today and made some beautiful pictures - well done!
