Nursery
This month in Nursery we have been exploring lots of exciting activities! It's been a warm sunny few weeks so we've had lots of trips to the garden in the mornings and afternoons when it's a little cooler. We've loved exploring the sand trays, noticing we can use our pointed fingers to make marks through it. This helps us develop our fine motor skills and is a great first step towards handwriting!
The beach themes continued inside as we explored a tray full of dyed rice and shells. We enjoyed using the shells to scoop and manipulate the rice, noticing that the shells would get heavier the more rice we added - we could then tip it all back into the tray again!
We've also really enjoyed the magnetic tiles, working out the different ways they can connect. We carefully put the shapes together, rotating and flipping them to make them fit!
In the home corner we've been exploring imaginative play, using our wooden food and toys! We have brewed up and shared cups of tea with our adults - chin chin - and made lots of rounds of toast in the toaster, pressing the switches down!
Kindergarten
This month we have spent lots of time outdoors enjoying water play to keep cool! We had a safari themed tray, where we stomped toy animals through the sand and water, making a big splash! The warmer weather has brought more wildlife to the garden, we explored the creepy crawly hotel to see what we could find.
Outside we cleaned the babies with cloths and soapy water, which gave us a nice refresh too! We enjoyed playing in a zesty tray with peas, limes and lemons. We squeezed the juice into the tray and made lots of fruity drinks!
We have had a look at Handa's Surprise and lots of different fruits in the story. We used the scales to weigh different cubes, seeing how the scales tip when there's more in one side!
We also explored a hair dresser tuff tray where all the different ladies had hair made out of different pastas to resemble different hair textures, we then used scissors to give them a trim!
Pre-School
This month in Pre-School we have been developing our understanding of this term's Core Book - The Colour Monster. We have read through the story lots of times, so we have a great understanding of the tale and can recollect which colour represents which emotion. This allows us to explore lots of interesting activities, from sorting out the Monster's mixed up pom-pom emotions to expressing our own feelings using dyed water and pipettes.
We have also been developing our fine motor skills and coordination with dyed pasta and string! We carefully threaded the pasta shapes onto the string, some of us explored pattern by mixing up the colours.
Out on the decking we've been exploring the sand and water tray, using all the different hand tools to move and manipulate both. The warm weather has also brought lots of ladybirds to the Red Bus garden, so there have been lots of discussions about where they come from and how to keep them safe. We know that if we spot one, we can move it to a safe place!
For World Snake Day we had a go at discovering hidden snakes in the sand, and got crafty decorating our own paper snakes with shiny sequins.
