Toddler Day

Harry’s Day
This is our vision of our Toddler’s day in the nursery, as soon as we have a real experience we will share it with you….

Harry has arrived at Nursery with his Daddy and his big brother. When Harry see’s Angela in Toddlers he gives a great big smile and wave and tells his Daddy Angela is really nice! Harry is so confident at nursery, even though he has only been here for two weeks. He feels really safe and happy and has lots of things to play with. Harry likes being in his own group with his key person, it makes him feel really special and welcome. Harry’s Mummy and Daddy filled out a lovely book all about him, his mummy said it was a ‘unique child’ booklet and it was all about Harry, his family, his favourite foods, things he didn’t like and the really interesting stuff that he liked to play with. Mummy said his key person would be able to plan lots of fun and exciting things because Mummy had given her lots of really useful information.

Harry’s Big brother and Daddy are going now, Daddy is going to work and his brother is going to big school. Harry knows that when he has had tea in the dining room, it will be time for Daddy to pick him up, Harry likes how tea is the same time everyday, it helps him know when its time for Daddy to come back.

Harry sat with Angela in the cosy book corner and listened to his favourite story ‘Going on a bear hunt’, it wasn’t long before Harry’s friends Ben, Ryan and Emily arrived. This made Harry feel really excited, and off he went to explore the top discovery garden. He could pretend that he was going on a bear hunt with his friends, Angela asked Harry if he would like a bear to go in the top garden, this made the story come alive for Harry and he smiled his big big smile and ran off with his friends hunting for bears!

Harry and his friends played in the garden all morning, including some time playing on the trikes in the lower garden, they were all starting to feel a bit hungry now. They went inside and washed their hands and went to see what was on the snack wagon today. Harry chose some juicy orange and crunchy apple. Emily and Ben and Ryan also had some grapes. Harry very carefully poured his own water, he was a good pourer now and didn’t spill a drop, Harry’s key person said he was very clever at pouring.

After snack Harry decided he wanted to dress up, so off he went to the role play area. Angela helped him put on a furry bear costume. She told Harry he really looked like he was going on a bear hunt now, he stomped and growled like a grizzly bear, which made all the children laugh.

After a delicious lunch in the dining room, Harry and his friends were starting to feel a bit sleepy, when they got back all the beds had been set up and they all looked warm and cosy. Harry could tell which bed was his because he could see his favourite little fire engine, which he keeps in his own drawer at nursery and it only comes out at nap time. Harry snuggled up on his bed and drifted off to sleep dreaming about bears.

When Harry woke, he and his friends went off to do some modelling with clay, they have lots of ideas about what to build. He can’t wait to tell Daddy how much fun he has had today. Angela tells Harry she will take some photo’s of his model to put in his special folder, which is all about his learning at nursery and together they can share it with Daddy when he arrives after Tea, this made Harry beam his beautiful smile.
