This Week in Downend (W/C 9th September 2019)
This week in Downend, Nursery have been exploring a range of different animal themed sensory trays. They felt the different textures of rice, tissue and pasta, as well as the different animals, “look there’s an elephant!”. Babies have been interested in dough this week, using lolly pop sticks and feathers to stick in the dough, as well as pipe cleaners, it ended up sooooooo sticky. Using different tools they moved the dough around and made it super pretty with some sparkly gems.
Kindergarten this week have been looking at different emotions, the children used the new emotion cards and copied them, they were brilliant at their angry faces. The children continued with this in the art area and used templates of their faces to draw on emotions, such as happy (smiley) and sad (tears). In the role play area this week Kindergarten turned into a doctors surgery and the children became Doctors and took care of their dolls, giving them medicine and checking their temperatures.
In Pre-School this week the children got very creative in the Art Studio. The made some amazing pictures using paint, wow look at that monster! In the construction area the children have been using the blocks to make houses for their dolls. In cooking this week they have been making some special fairy biscuits using Annie’s (chef) recipe.
