This Week in Downend (W/C 3rd June 2019)
This week in Downend, Nursery have been having lots of fun playing peek-a-boo! At the beginning of the week the children choose to look at the ‘Peek-a-boo baby story’ listening to the adults with interest as they read the book out loud. Afterwards the children found different materials to hide behind….BOO! In their sensory tray this week the children found shredded paper, but what was underneath it?! The children searched through the paper finding lots of hidden objects such as cars and animals. Outside in the garden the children went on a bunny hunt searching the lost bunnies, thankfully they found them all and brought them safely back inside.
In Kindergarten this week the children have loved being outside! They explored BIG bubbles using a hula hoop to make the bubbles as big as them and in the mud kitchen created some yummy mud soups! Some of the children also made their own shop ‘Rice Please’ and some children made marks with paint, rolling cars and wheels down the ramp through the paint. In the garden the children have been noticing lots of birds around so they made their very own binoculars to see them up close.
This week in Pre-School the children have been getting creative working in pairs to create sensory bottles. The children used colour changing tablets, glitter and sequins, self-resourcing and sharing with their peers to create their bottles, which they then explored how they looked on the light table…WOW! Outside the children have been making muddy pictures, painting the trees, flowers and dinosaurs! Lastly Pre-School enjoyed a relaxing Yoga session in the garden, practising their poses and talking about what we find outside such as trees, butterflies and rain.
