This Week in Coombe Dingle (W/C 31st August 2020)
This week at Coombe Dingle, our babies have been using their amazing imaginations painting a blank cardboard box! The children worked together mixing paints and discovering the different marks they can make with brushes. Babies also explored a natural sensory tray this week, filled with hessian, feathers, wood and pine cones. The children felt all the different textures and particularly enjoyed sending the wooden pieces down the cardboard tube!
Kindergarten this week have been discovering watercolour paints. The children carefully added water to the paint, and made lots of different marks and shapes on the paper – they even explored how to mix colours together to create brand new ones! Outside in the garden some children have been mark making al-fresco, using the blackboards with chalk to do lots of different drawings. The children then had the extra fun of wiping it all down with water!
We have had lots of new children start in Pre-School this week, so the children have been having lots of conversations about our feelings. They talked about the different emotions we can experience and why, and even practiced what they look like! Elsewhere this week Pre-School explored a texture box, filled with different toys and resources that feel different. The children chose an object and talked about how it felt – is it hard or soft? Spiky or smooth?
