This Week at Forest School – Coombe Dingle (W/C 11th March 2019)
Katie’s Forest School
This week at Forest School we had a fantastic time in the top garden with Katie.
The sun shone brightly and we could hear the birds singing in the trees, we all had our listening ears on and concentrated to hear where their tweets were coming from. Katie had made a fire and arranged the benches safely around the edge. Far enough to keep us safe and Katie had done her fire safety training so we were all in great hands. We went through the Forest School Fire Rules together. We walked around the back of benches, we never cross the fire! We have a fire blanket, fire gloves and a large bucket of water just in case.
Katie heated some oil up in the pan. “Steady Katie not too much.” We all took it in turns to shake up the pancake mixture together.
When it was ready Katie carefully cooked them for us. They were delicious yum yum.
We help the popcorn sieve over the fire and we waited and waited until we heard the crackles and the pops of the popcorn.
The marsh mallows were the best. They were pushed onto a long bendy stick and held over the fire until they just started to melt, sticky and gooey. What a lovely treat.
Whilst we sat and ate our fantastic cooked feast, Katie read a story to us. Peace at last it was called and it was, we were all busy munching on our treats.
So until next time.
Bye for now.
The Forest School Team.
