This week Red Bus gets into the Christmas mood with parties almost every day for the various age groups in the setting. Games, fun, Christmas tea and lots of merriment for all concerned, and, lovely to see our parents too.

Red Bus paints faces at Our Lady of the Rosary

The Red Bus team, having accepted the kind invitation from Our Lady of the Rosary school to attend their Christmas Fayre, have great fun face painting with the children and getting messy with the children decorating a bus in the competition. What a lovely atmosphere at this lovely, local and popular school.

Quality counts … new appointment at Red Bus

Red Bus has just appointed an experienced member of staff to a new role created specifically to ensure best practice is brought to day to day operations on a continuous basis. Helen Mee joins as the Red Bus Practice Manager, with a number of years of childcare experience in addition to holding the prestigious Early Years Professional Status. We look forward to Helen working as part of our management team and across our whole team to help us be the best we possibly can be.

All the fun of the Fayre!

Join us on Saturday 14th July 2012 from 11am to 3pm for a day of family fun!

Everyone is welcome to come along to Red Bus and enjoy garden games, a raffle, face-painting, cooling refeshments and hands-on activities for the under 5′s and their families. Rain or shine we’ll be here, making the best of the British summer weather! It’s also a chance to get to know our friendly team and find out more about what we do.

Entry is free and any funds raised will go to our favourite charity Clic Sargent.

Local primary school fairs

Red Bus has been invited to provide baby and toddler play areas at two local school Summer Fairs! We will be making little hands busy at Our Lady of the Rosary School (Saturday 23rd June) and Elmlea School (Saturday 30th June) with a Colouring & Collage competition, a baby play area and face-painting. We’re looking forward to getting out into the communitiy and to forging good links with both these excellent local schools. And of course, our fingers are firmly crossed for sunshine but both events will move indoors if it’s wet… so do drop by and say hello!!

Ofsted praises staff and children!

Just 5 months after opening, Red Bus Nursery & Pre-School has been given a ‘good’ Ofsted rating across all areas of its operation – an above average scoring for a new childcare setting. The nursery staff had been told not to expect more than a ‘satisfactory’ rating being so new but instead were praised for their efforts in reaching a higher standard; “The whole team shares a clear vision of striving towards the delivery of an excellent service for children and families. There is strong evidence to demonstrate a good capacity for continuous improvement.” Staff were also described as “very well qualified and experienced”.

The setting is licensed for the care of up to 107 children from 3 months to 5 years old in specially designed baby, toddler and pre-school areas. The Ofsted inspector spent time with children across all areas and praised them in the report, “Children are busy and inquisitive and eager to accept challenges and solve problems. Children make very good progress in the relation to their starting points. They are happy and settled and become eager and curious to learn about their world.”

Red Bus was set up last year after extensive renovation of a former Bristol pub, The Iron Bridge. The large 1930’s building was modernised with walls knocked through to create a spacious Baby Suite, open-plan Toddler areas, a dedicated Pre-School and landscaped gardens. Ofsted described the new interiors as “warm and spacious and filled with light” and praised the unique facilities; “Babies enjoy spacious rooms to move around and explore in safety and have the luxury of a roof garden for outdoor play. All children enjoy the wide open space of the garden, which they will help to develop with their own ideas”.

Owner Liz Hogarth is delighted with the report:

“We’ve all worked very hard to get the nursery to this point in a very short space of time so I’m thrilled to get a seal of approval from Ofsted. Having faced childcare challenges myself in the past, I was determined to create a vibrant, friendly setting with very high standards of care – there’s always ways we can improve but this is a real credit to the team and the families we work with.”

The report recommended that some sound proofing in the dining area and more natural and recycled objects would enhance the setting further. The nursery already plans to implement these changes in the next three months.

Red Bus goes healthy with childrens’ meals cooked on site

As of Monday 16th January, Red Bus Nursery & Pre-School opens the kitchen to serve all meals and snacks from within. Focusing on healthy, nutritious, varied and home cooked food, our Chef Sheralyn Palmer is looking forward to delighting the children with the kitchen offerings. Menus will be displayed outside the dining room.

Christmas bazaar raises over £200 for Clic Sargent

A very successful Christmas bazaar on 17th December raised just over £200 for the Clic Sargent charity ! Attended by over 200 people the bazaar was a total success with everyone enjoying a range of things on offer including meeting Father Christmas, Christmas games for the children, face painting, Christmas stalls and refreshments on offer for all ….. A big Thank You to everyone who came and supported the event.

Red Bus Christmas Bazaar

Why not come along to the Red Bus Christmas Bazaar on Saturday 17th December from 11am to 3pm. Everyone is welcome, come and celebrate the festive season with us, lots for everyone. Santa will be there (free present for under 10′s), Christmas refreshments, activities for the children, gift/novelty stalls for those last minute Christmas presents.

Red Bus gets the green light from Ofsted

Red Bus Nursery & Pre-School has successfully passed the intensive Ofsted pre-inspection and have the green light to open the doors ….. well done to the Manager, Claire, who impressed the inspector with her wealth of knowledge and experience in the childcare sector.
